Staff Quant Engineer (BrightFlow live-trading path)

Level: Staff Department: Engineering Location: Florida HQ / Remote-OK Classification: W-2

Mission

Own the BrightFlow live-trading engineering path — backtest infrastructure, signal pipelines, IBKR / Alpaca integrations, and the operational discipline that lets real money flow through our code.

Responsibilities

  • Own the live-trading code path end-to-end, including pre-trade risk
  • Build and maintain the backtest framework and signal evaluation harness
  • Operate IBKR and Alpaca integrations under strict reliability SLOs
  • Establish the trading-system observability stack and incident runbooks
  • Partner with ML engineers on signal R&D and model deployment
  • Codify the dual-control / approval pattern for any live-trading change
  • Lead post-incident reviews for live-trading events

Required qualifications

  • 7+ years software engineering; 3+ years working on production trading systems
  • Deep Python (asyncio, NumPy, pandas) and strong systems sense
  • Hands-on experience with at least one broker API (IBKR, Alpaca, FIX)
  • Track record operating real-money trading code

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior Staff or Principal title at a hedge fund or prop firm
  • Experience with low-latency Python or one systems language (Rust, C++)
  • Background in market microstructure or execution algos
  • Florida or NYC-metro base
