Grid Optimization Engineer

Level: Mid-Senior Department: Ventures Location: Florida HQ / Remote-OK Classification: W-2

Mission

Provide engineering depth on grid optimization, DER orchestration, and energy-market modeling for Albright's Energy venture work and federal energy pursuits.

Responsibilities

  • Build models of grid topology, DER aggregation, and market dispatch
  • Author technical comparison memos on competing grid and storage architectures
  • Track regulatory and ISO/RTO developments
  • Support diligence on energy venture-coverage opportunities
  • Partner with engineering on R&D priorities in grid-edge computing
  • Support proposal authorship on energy-vertical federal pursuits
  • Build relationships with utility and ISO/RTO engineering counterparts

Required qualifications

  • 4+ years engineering experience in power systems or grid software
  • Working knowledge of DER, storage, and grid-edge architectures
  • Strong Python and modeling chops
  • Demonstrated research and technical-writing ability

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior role at a utility, ISO/RTO, or grid-software vendor
  • Background with OpenADR, IEEE 2030.5, or grid-edge protocols
  • Working knowledge of NERC CIP
  • Florida base
