Clinical Data Engineer

Level: Mid-Senior Department: Ventures Location: Florida HQ / Remote-OK Classification: W-2

Mission

Build and operate clinical data pipelines for Albright's Medicine venture work — FHIR / HL7 ingestion, de-identification, and analytics-ready datasets that comply with HIPAA from the start.

Responsibilities

  • Build FHIR / HL7 ingestion and normalization pipelines
  • Operate de-identification and safe-harbor pipelines
  • Maintain HIPAA-compliant data infrastructure
  • Partner with regulatory on data-use agreements and IRB workflows
  • Build analytics-ready datasets for clinical-AI projects
  • Establish data-quality and lineage tracking
  • Support compliance posture (HITRUST, SOC2)

Required qualifications

  • 4+ years data engineering; 2+ years working with clinical or healthcare data
  • Hands-on experience with FHIR, HL7, or comparable healthcare standards
  • Strong Python and SQL chops
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and PHI handling

Preferred qualifications

  • Background at an EHR, claims, or clinical-research company
  • HITRUST or HIPAA-specific certification
  • Experience with de-identification frameworks (Safe Harbor, Expert Determination)
  • Florida base
